Archives for the win

Morning my friends.

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend and you’re ready for another week of stunning weather.

My weekend was brilliant, thanks for asking. It was my wife’s 40th on Saturday. I wanted the whole day to be special so I had to start the day off with a surprise. I organised an early flower and chocolate delivery from Mr Roses - same-day delivery in Sydney is pretty awesome. The roses looked great and it really kick-started my wife’s special day.

This morning for a change was wet, grey, uninspiring and with a little drizzle starting around 7 am. I almost bailed but didn’t want to miss out. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Have a lovely day and apparently we should have a better end of the week. I can’t wait to see this…

Ciao,

Amo

That's what Bondi usually looks at this time of the year...

I'm obsessed with this photo... I could see it framed in big at my place.

Enough is enough

Morning everyone,

Do you remember me? The last time that we spoke was almost 10 days ago. That’s right, for the past 9 days (except on weekends when I don’t usually shoot) we’ve had grey and uninspiring mornings. I still posted a couple of Instagram Stories but nothing groundbreaking to be honest.

Today is no exception to that 💩 weather but I was just edgy to do something about it. So instead of saying nothing and letting thousands of you in despair and hating me for not giving you news (it’s a joke!), here are some very quick news and archive photos (I have 13 years of them so that bit was easy).

  • Life is good and my level of stress is way down since I have my own business. I know it might sound crazy but that’s true. This is probably because we already have a few clients without even having our website live.

  • A few weeks ago, I shot the new collection of the swimwear brand The Rocks Push (photos should be online soon) I put a goodie for the ladies right in the last photo. Clickbait? God yeah!

  • There are still a few more days to redeem your ClassPass Free Trial by clicking on this LINK and if you live locally you can even get a present.

  • Talking about presents, I’m also running a competition with the guys from Bondi Liquor Co to make you win more than $1,000 worth of prizes. You would be crazy not to enter it!

I think that’s enough gibberish for today. Don’t you think? By the way, when the weather is poo-esque, do you prefer receiving archive photos rather than nothing? Let me know in the comments section.

Have a cracking Friday and a lovely weekend,

xoxo

Now we are talking...

Morning gang,

Hope you are all well this morning.

This morning was just ‘sun-sational’ - too tired to train, I just went down for coffee, photos and swim. And you know what, I picked the right morning for it. The sunrise and light were incredible, the best we’ve had for a long time.

I got carried away and took way too many photos. What takes the most time in the morning is not taking photos but the select and light editing of those. Hope you like them.

On another note and not to bring the atmosphere down, a few people including my friend Cheryl shared with me the story of her friend Brooke and her partner Ollie, former Bondi locals, so some of you might know them, who welcomed their little boy Hugo into the world 12 weeks ago. Sadly after a routine medical check-up, they found a very rare brain tumour. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of his condition, it means that removing the tumour in its current form is too dangerous, and they are now awaiting the results of further tests to determine the next steps for Hugo’s treatment. Please consider supporting Brooke, Ollie and Hugo in any way you can including by donating right HERE. And please send all the positive energy and thoughts for Hugo’s recovery.

Thank you for your support everyone and have a lovely day,

Ciao,

Morning my friends,

Do you remember me? Yeah I know, not much news lately but let’s be honest, it’s been pretty appalling the last few days/weeks. Excuse my French but ‘La Niña’ is a real b*tch! I didn’t sign-up for this weather when I decided to leave Paris 13 years ago to come and settle here.

Today, if you were lucky to be there for the sunrise, we had 5 minutes of incredible light and then back to dull.

I was down there with my good mate Arnaud, just catching up and talking sh*t. (excuse my French again)

Here are the photos, hope you like them. If not feel free to address your complaints to my customer service team: complaints@morningbondi.com

Shitney weather

Morning gang,

Hope you are all well.

My apologies for the radio silence but between the crappy weather, public holiday on Monday, a shoot on Tuesday and an early event on Wednesday, I haven't had a chance to post here.

On Wednesday morning before the weather turned sour, there were some epic colours in the sky for literally 15 mins, pretty much what happened this morning too. I was lucky enough to be down there shooting the Team One Fitness epic workout for my collaboration with ClassPass.

That's right, for the month of October (and hopefully beyond) I'm partnering with the legends at ClassPass.

ClassPass is an awesome business giving you access to thousands of gyms, fitness studios, spas all around Straya (and the world) without locking yourself into a contract with a specific venue. Awesome concept, especially for someone like me who gets bored quite quickly and likes the variety of workouts.

For the whole month of October, I'm going to do a few sessions from beach workouts, to training at VRTUS, probably one of the hottest gyms in Bondi right now to an infrared sauna session at Nimbus and plenty more. You too could give it a crack. Sign up by using that specific LINK during the month of October and get a month free. You can thank me later! #MorningBondiGoodies

Hope you like the photos and see you soon down the beach or at one of Bondi's ClassPass venues for a good sweat. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

PS: Sucker for a good pun, when my friend Bertie mentioned 'Shitney Weather' in one of our WhatsApp chats, I loved it so much that I had to use it somewhere. First blog post and here I am utilising it straight away. Thanks, Bertie boy!

Ducktober

Morning everyone,

Hope you’ve all a good night sleep or great day for my overseas friends. Mine? Pretty short to be honest!

After a pretty epic Midnight Oil concert last night, iconic Australian band, I couldn’t fall asleep so when the alarm clock went off at 5:10am, I almost rolled over.

Glad that I didn’t as the sunrise was pretty amazing (about to post a video on Instagram Story), but no photos of it I’m afraid. Then exercise with the Flintstones and headed to North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club for an ice bath for Ducktober.

WTD (What The Duck) is Ducktober you might ask. Great question!

Ducktober is an initiative by Waves of Wellness (WOW) challenging people to immerse themselves in cold water and raise funds for WOW's mental health surf therapy programs which support those in our community who are struggling the most with mental fitness.

Alright enough blabla for today, enjoy your day my friends!

Bonjour gang,

Hope you are all well and had a good night sleep after last night’s storm.

I woke up early, it was pissing down. Stayed in bed and by 6:40ish it was glorious so headed down the beach.

Too late to exercise, I just went for coffee, photos, stroll along the beach and chit-chat with local legends.

Hope the rest of the week will look like this but it’s not looking too promising unfortunately.

Enjoy your day my friends,

4:15am

Morning team,

I don’t want a medal but I did wake up at 4:15 am this morning and probably deserve one really. ;)

My poor daughter woke me up at that time as she was not feeling too well. I helped her out and tried to fall back asleep but that was me done for the night. She actually picked the right morning for it as it was glorious down there from 5:20 am till about 6:10 am and then all the beautiful colours were gone behind a blanket of grey clouds.

Hope you had a chance to see the sunrise this morning as it was pretty amazing. If not, don’t worry, that’s what I’m here for.

Have a lovely day gang and pending the weather chat with you tomorrow.

Cheers,

Amaury, pronounced just like that.

PS: I’ve said it better before but if you are keen to spend a fun day out of the office next week. You should check out Dmarge House. Incredible line-up of speakers and tickets are on sale. See you there my friends!

you blink, you will miss it

Morning gang,

You blink, you will miss it… yep, I’m talking about the sun.

As I posted in my Instagram Stories earlier this morning, it was looking pretty rubbish today. I’m quite often asked why am I not posting photos of Bondi when it’s overcast. It’s simply not my jam.

When I started Morning Bondi twelve years ago, I used to take photos every single day of the week regardless of the weather but I became a bit fussier over the years - typical French poshness. Today, I made an exception, here is just one photo of this morning when the sun appeared for a total of a minute.

The rest are all the photos that you might recognise from my interview with Marley from Exceptional Alien. If you haven’t checked it out, you should watch it as I reveal some of my favourite spots in Bondi.

Finally, talking of ‘French poshness’, as some of you might be aware I’m part of the Board of The Alliance Française, promoting French culture in Australia. This includes how to impress your friends at a dinner table by knowing everything about Champagne. We are organising an event in exactly a week just for that. Check out all the details here and learn how to say Moët properly. Spoiler alert, it’s not “Moo-é” but “Mo-WeT”. You can thank me later.

On that note, have a great day gang and stay warm,

You sleep, you lose

Morning my friends,

I know the title is a bit harsh but that’s pretty much the reality. What a morning my friends but you had to be down there between 5:30am and 6ish, then it was all gone. As they say, early birds catch the worms.

And if you think that 5:30 am is early, some have already done a 1.6 km run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 air squats with a 10kg weight vest by that time. That’s right, Team Murph Bondi is doing a ‘murph workout’ every day in September in honour of fallen commandos. Check their Instagram and feel free to donate right HERE. Good on you gang, you should be very proud of yourselves. Keep up the great work!

Have a lovely week and I might not be able to chat tomorrow as early meeting in the city to meet a French Minister. Yeah I know, pretty big deal! ;)

By the way, thank you so much for all the birthday wishes yesterday, so much love. You guys rock!

Morning crew,

Hope you are all well and had a great weekend. How packed was Bondi yesterday? Cray-cray! It felt like Summertime, even the temperature outside was incredible.

As every Monday, we were down at the bars with the training gang - it was pretty quiet. Quite often people ask me why I am not shooting more often down on the north end. Here are just a few reasons, sunrise is not as spectacular, and you see it much later, fewer people ie. fewer photo subjects and usually smaller surf too.

Except on Mondays, I actually never hang out down in North Bondi. South, all the way every day! Which camp are ya? North vs South. Weigh in down in the comments section.

That’s it for today, have a cracking week my friends and chat tomorrow!

R U OK?

Morning beautiful people,

Today is a special day, it’s R U OK? day. A day to ask your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, and pretty much anyone that you know if they are OK? It’s the perfect day to reconnect with loved ones that you haven’t chatted to for a little while.

Whoever will be reading this today or any day really, my question to you is: ARE YOU OK?

If you are struggling and feel like talking to someone, I’m not a healthcare professional but always happy to have a chat and see if I can help in any shape or form. Feel free to contact me via email or give me a call on +61 416 732 272 and I will try my best to help out. I mean it.

The guys from OneWave were here this morning to open conversations about mental health. I also strongly encourage you to check this page on R U OK Day website to seek professional help.

That’s it for today, have a lovely day and stay strong!

Sending love and happiness…

Morning gang,

Hope you all had a good weekend and a great Father’s Day for the dads out there.

Mine was just brilliant, spent a fair bit of time working on a couple of presentations for tomorrow and Wednesday. By the way, please don’t expect photos, newsletters and tutti quanti for the next two days as I will be busy chairing a conference and running a few sessions too. It’s the perfect opportunity for my soon-to-be-launched Social Media Agency - stay tuned for that!

Alright enough about me, today the sun played pretty much hide & seek all morning so I played exercise & photos all morning too. It was a bit chilly but well worth waking up and braving the cold!

Running out

Morning peeps,

I will soon run out of archive photos if the weather continues to play up like that - just joking I have accumulated terabytes of photos over the past 11+ years of Morning Bondi so we are safe.

That’s right, I’m one of the OGs when it comes to taking photos of Bondi in the morning. It started with Eugene Tan from Aquabumps, then the Frothers crew (Brad Malyon, Bill Morris and Franck Gazzola) and then Morning Bondi I reckon. All this, way before Instagram was even a thing.

Alright enough old stories, this morning was pretty 💩. When I arrived down, it was all grey and drizzling (check my Instagram Stories if you’re super keen) then 5 minutes of hope and back to rain. Super! We trained in the sand like maniacs, we got wet training, then wet swimming and coffee.

What else can I say except that Sunday is Father’s Day. If you are stuck with ideas, I have three ideas of present for you:

  1. A family photoshoot, picture yourself and your dad holding hands and looking pretty. Check some examples here

  2. A nice bottle of Morning Bondi Saltwater Gin that you could pick up directly from the Bondi Liquor Co distillery bar on Hall Street or on their website.

  3. Finally, if he’s sophisticated and fancy a day outside the office, you could get him tickets for the Dmarge House The guys from Dmarge are shaving $50 off the price for Morning Bondi Followers. VIP treatment right here my friends and I will see him there too. #Winwin

Let me tell you something, this morning was a real cracker my friends and for a change I spent my morning down in Bronte Beach. The temperatures outside and inside the water were balmy, especially considering the season.

5 minutes of gold

Morning my friends,

Hope you are well and had a good night's sleep or a great day for my overseas friends.

This morning, I went for a Bondi to Bronte run. Once I came back in Bondi, the sun finally decided to pop its face, for a brief 5 minutes and that was it for this morning.

The problem is that I didn’t have my camera with me and I was just chatting with good mate and legendary John Macarthur from Purl Harbour - this guy is the unofficial mayor of Bondi and an Australian fashion icon but too humble to brag about it. If it’s of interest, read this article written by MrTurner about him.

Anyway, back to what I was saying, only 5 minutes of sunshine that I had to capture with my phone quickly. You can find the result right there: Five minutes of Gold

Yes, that’s right, as of this morning, I’m officially a TikToker. The Instagram reach is so screwed that I need to give TikTok a go and let’s be honest I keep on recommending to my social clients how important TikTok is so it’s about time that I do what I preach.

Hoping for a better sunrise tomorrow morning, but here are a few archive photos for now.

How was your weekend? What a glorious day yesterday, you could tell that Spring is around the corner!

After a pretty rough night, I bailed the training bit and just ventured down the beach for coffee, photos and a dip in the ocean - what I do best, to be honest.

It was pretty quiet down there but luckily they were a few swimmers around the Icebergs, otherwise it would have been photos of me, myself and I.

Friday under my doona is 'Fridoona’. Yes, I like a good pun, if you can even qualify this as one?!

The weather forecast was planning some rain for this morning. Lucky, no rain but not necessarily great either, pretty grey and wet. As you know, when it’s uninspiring, I don’t really bother taking photos - this bit will never change. When I started Morning Bondi, 11+years ago, I used to shoot every single day: rain, hail or shine but let’s be honest, no one wants to see a grey sky and rain.

Instead, to brighten your day, here are some of the recent photos that I’ve uploaded to the Gallery page of the site. Hope you like them.
